The Haddon Heights Historical Society Presents:

INFORMATIVE AND EDUCATIONAL NJ & AMERICAN HISTORY ORIGINAL PRESENTATIONS FEATURING LOCAL/NATIONAL AUTHOR & SPEAKER PROGRAMS

NOTICE OF MEETING

Monday January 23, 2023  7:00 PM

Historic Cooking from Colonial Times

Diane Snodgrass presents an interactive program with members sampling a few historic “receipts” (recipes). Bring a favorite recipe to break down into ingredients and your cell phone so we can look up the ingredients and their origins. We’ll be looking at handwritten family receipt books as well as a few commercial reproductions. Food choices were quite seasonal in South Jersey, so we won’t be tasting strawberries in January. The balanced meal we know about today didn’t exist in the 18th and 19th centuries. Diane is currently the Collections Manager at the Historical Society of Haddonfield and the previous Camden County Historical Society Education Program Coordinator and interpreted Open Hearth Cooking for ten years.
